Visitors
Process for Visitors (UK)
Complete a Visitor Proforma (see POLIS Guidance for Arranging Visitor Status for further information)
Submit to Catherine Robinson [email protected] along with supporting documentation:
- Visitor’s CV
- Reference from visitor’s home institution
- Supporting case statement from member of staff/Research Centre
The application will be considered at School Research & Innovation Committee. Catherine will notify the staff member and proposed visitor of the decision.
If the application is approved Catherine will liaise with the visitor to gather information for right to work checks etc. Once these have been completed and the visitor set up on SAP HR, they can then apply for a username/staff ID card (Catherine will send links).
Please note: for professorial visitors a letter from the Dean is required, setting out the contribution the individual will make to the Faculty (this may be progressed once the applicant has been approved by the School).
International Visitors
The process for international visitors is the same as outline above. International Office have produced a useful guide for academics. If your visitor requires an invitation letter in order to apply for a visa, you can use this template.
IMPORTANT: It is the Visiting Academic's responsibility to deal with immigration, visas, accommodation and family issues. Non-EEA (European Economic Area)/EU academic visitors will need to obtain appropriate immigration clearance. The school does not process immigration applications. Further information can be found in the Immigration Considerations document.
